Today BSP commemorates a first year of market coupling operations under the Multi-Regional Coupling (MRC) umbrella which utilizes the Single European electricity market. Expectations of achieving higher efficiency on the daily allocation process have been confirmed since adverse flows have disappeared and hours with converged prices between Italy and neighbouring coupled markets have increased. During the first year of operations in European wide market coupling no issues or any risk of decoupling occurred on Slovenian – Italian border. This shows the high level of security of BSP operations. Experience and knowledge gained in this process will be beneficial while introducing the same mechanisms on other Slovenian borders.
